Description

A short, owl-like figure with ratpor-like claws and shiny black feathers, which seem to ripple with every colour imaginable when the light bounces off them at the right angle. Further adding to the aesthetic, she wears a black robe of unblinking eyes, whose lidless pupils twitch and dart around the room. The only colour she bears beyond that is her ruby brooch - shaped like the drake of the Mercykiller sigil.

- On meeting Hue

Heritage

Hue is an easily-overlooked figure from the College of Strixhaven, wherein she was born, raised, and studied for the first sixteen years of her life. She was child to two well-respected professors from within Witherbloom College (which, unsurprisingly, she ended up enrolling under).

Hue always excelled at her studies, frequently winning ‘most promising student’ prizes and the likes and topping her class in grades. She was devastated when her father was murdered, and immediately blamed his most notable rival professor. After a lengthy personal investigation, she started a campaign to have him brought to justice and dealt with; demanding death for the guy.

He walked free.

See, Hue was never very popular. Nor were her parents, for that matter. The circumstances of her father’s death and ambivalence of her classmates caused something to snap within her, and she fled to through the easiest planar portal she could find.

She arrived in Sigil with nothing to her name. Determined to make a way for herself, she ended up stealing and backstabbing to keep herself alive. She got caught, and were it not for a still-young Alisohn Nilesia (the previous Factol), she would likely be either dead or missing a hand at best.

The Chant

When Nilesia stepped down as Factol, it was Hue who was entrusted with the reins of leadership. It’s not hard to see why either: both share a similar view towards justice and fairness, both worked 20 hours a day (Hue was but one of many students to use rings of sustenance to keep ahead), and both shared a vision for how the Mercykillers ought to be known.

No-one knows why the Mercykiller Factol ensured Hue innocence. She was given an excellent lawyer, and Nilesia herself attended her trial. Justice was meted out fairly… which was a novelty in the Cage.

Maybe Hue wanted to repay Nilesia. Maybe her already-burning passion for Justice pushed her to join the Mercykillers. Maybe it was some wierd scheme. Whatever the reason, Hue enrolled and quickly rose through the ranks within the faction that had just put her on trial.

That doesn’t mean Hue shares the same popularity or hold over her faction as Nilesia once did. No, many are unhappy with Hue for a number of reasons; be it envy, distrust, or disdain for Nilesia’s decisions. Hue is having to work very hard to prove herself, and it’s only the protection of Nilesia’s old guard that keeps her alive.

Blood Oaths

Hue has a Blood Oath of Interception. She can make Blood Oaths of Retribution and Protection as she wills, and she is capable of rendering a Blood Oath invalid if she wills it.
