Personality

As a Signer, Complex is utterly assured of the fact that all of creation is but a product of his own imagination - a simulation of the almighty CORE. As such, he devotes himself to honing his mind, imagination, and physical prowess to keep the simulation going.

He sleeps little, engaging in ‘sentry mode’ only occasionally by virtue of his ring of sustenance (and he’s not the only Factol to have one). He’s a very chatty fellow, though does not suffer fools gladly.

History

Complex has an enigmatic history, being a rogue modron of indeterminate age and motive. All that is known is that he claims to have been around Sigil for as long as the City itself, and that he’s been making a name for himself all this while as a ‘Sentinel of the Night’ - a ‘Watcher’. That is, he patrols the streets of Sigil to keep it safe of extraplanar threats - those various entities that his own subconscious mind conjures into being to sabotage the ‘Great Simulation’ that is life.

Regardless, he’s been a seemingly permanent fixture of the Signers for as long as their members can remember. It was only after the Second Upheaval however (and the mysterious death of the previous Factol) that he took control of the faction. Now he’s determined to put every mind in the faction to perfecting his ‘Great Simulation’.

There are many who say that he’s in contact with the previously-dead god Aoskar, as part of a pact brokered when the Will of One resurrected him. Such allegations are unproven, but Complex can often be found boasting of ‘friends in high places’.
